Hello. We are Hiro and Yasumi. We've been obsessively photographing things that catch our eye for about a decade now.
We started Super Ordinary Life to give our obsession legs and see where it goes. We have so much to learn and quite a bit that we'd like to share and if this obsession can inspire a few others to notice more in their everyday lives - we'd be so happy.
With the help of some trenchant friends, we want to push the overlooked into centre stage because right here in the mundane is where our realities exist.
To us, the mundane is every bit as interesting, beautiful and worthy of note as those extraordinary moments we tend to celebrate so vividly. Learning to notice more in our everyday moments can help us lead a more mindful lifestyle. It can also sharpen our ability to observe and help us appreciate our surroundings.
We don't want this to be a place that's caught up in artful compositions of perfect photos. We hope to present a stripped back documentary of things that simply catch our eye or the eye of our friends as we go through our everyday lives. We want to create a shared space full of inspirational observations.
There so many ways to see. So many perspectives to explore. So many ways to experience the life that we so often take for granted around us. Stick with us on this adventure. We have an incredible rabbit hole to explore. One that's right beneath our noses.
Fancy getting involved?
In the meantime, there are a few ways that you can get involved in this journey.
I've started a hashtag #super_ordinarylife on Instagram. I'd love it if you shared your captures there. I will always credit and link back to you when I use your pics here or on my Instagram account.
