MADO+ is a casual study of the windows I’ve encountered in residential Tokyo. A few are commercial, most are domestic. I started observing windows with fresh candour, in time, and after seeing a whole lot of windows, my views shifted.

MADO+ is small batch printed in Kyushu.

• 15cm x 15cm square paper back

• Includes an appendix with additional information on some of the more architectural windows, recommended reading and sources, relevant Instagram hashtags and accounts.

MADO+バラ is a personal and visual record of a decaying rose that I observed over many weeks on my daily walks. The zine is completely handmade.

The images are printed on fine mulberry and hemp washi handmade by a 300yr old paper maker in Tokushima, Japan. This paper was chosen for its moody ethereal translucency and tactile quality. Each inkjet printed page has been hand-cut and perforated by me.

The front and back covers are made from bamboo washi. The front cover has a window that I constructed with black film and mesh.

Zines will be posted from Tokyo via standard airmail in either a paper envelope (rather than a bubblewrap mailer) so it can pass as airmail rather than a “small packet”.
